It can be any colour but I would suggest a blue or a white one.

Look deep into the flame and focus on it.

Don't let your eyes become fuzzy. Your mind will then become filled with thoughts, everyday concerns and trivial information. Work, odd jobs you need to do, family etc.

After a while these will just drift away.

In a while, you'll start receiving images and thoughts that don't belong to you. These are from your guides. You have to interpret these.

They can be symbolic. An example of this is being given an onion with the skin peeled off. It may not make much sense at first, but it could mean as you get further along on your path, the layers are peeled away until you get to the core of it.

The layers that had been peeled off could symbolise the layers or stages you are going through.

Learn to trust your own intuition. With this meditation it acts as a way of focusing concentration.

Eventually build up from 5 minutes a day to about 20 minutes. Do this over months.

Your eyes need to adapt to the light which they will.

Over time, you will distinguish what thoughts are your own and what are your guides.

Then in daily life you will receive messages you know are from them.

Source

Aromatherapy Magick - Patchouli

A classic scent for attracting love, lust and money. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. For a people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter.

To commemorate the event, Druids built huge sacred bonfires, where the people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities.

During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes. When the celebration was over, they re-lit their hearth fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the coming winter.

By A.D. 43, Romans had conquered the majority of Celtic territory. In the course of the four hundred years that they ruled the Celtic lands, two festivals of Roman origin were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain.

The first was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of "bobbing" for apples that is practiced today on Halloween.

By the 800s, the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands. In the seventh century, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1 All Saints' Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs. It is widely believed today that the pope was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. The celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween. Even later, in A.D. 1000, the church would make November 2 All Souls' Day, a day to honor the dead. It was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels, and devils. Together, the three celebrations, the eve of All Saints', All Saints', and All Souls', were called Hallowmas.

Information Source: History.com

How To Create Your Wicca Witchcraft Altar

The first step to create your wicca altar is to thoroughly clean the room that will contain your altar. It is best to mix sea salt into water. If you can’t find any sea salt to use (any new age shop should have some), just use cleaning supplies you would normally use.

Scrub down the walls, ceiling and floor (if you don’t have a rug). Make sure to pick up the clutter, and organize the room as best you can. The less clutter and mess, the easier it will be to control the energy that collects.

Now, you need to determine where North, South, East, and West are. You can use a compass, or ask someone who knows (if you don’t). Once you figure them out, make sure to mark them using any small objects so that you won’t forget. The reason you are doing this is because your altar will be setup facing North because it is the direction of “Earth” and the primary energy you will connect to.

Next, you need to mark your circle. You can use white cord, or any small objects that are sacred to you. (such as candles or figurines) If you have enough room, try to mark the circle between 5 to 9 feet in diameter. (If you don’t have enough space your circle can be smaller, but it may be a little more difficult to stay inside of the circle when doing your spell work.

When you mark the circle start in the East and move clockwise around the circle, finishing again in the East. Think of this is a “permanent” circle that you will “redraw” each time you do ritual or spell work. (you’ll see how to redraw it later)

Now it is time to decorate your temple (the area around your circle). You can hang meaningful posters, fabric, and pictures. You can set up candles all around the room in any way that feels right for you. Try to set up a mystical feel, one that builds strong emotions for Magick work. The decorating can be simple or elaborate, whatever evokes strong feelings inside of you.

Next, you need to do an initial cleansing and purification of your space. So you must first prepare the cleansing water for this ritual. You will “charge” the water with positive and pure energy from your heart. Then you will use this water to cleanse your space.

This purification is very important to perform correctly or your space will be tainted – and it will never “feel” right. Your Magick will probably suffer as a result.

I can’t stress how important the preparation of your cleansing water, and the actually cleansing and purifying of your space is. It so critical for you to actually see the rituals being done that I have included a DVD section on them in the full Witchcraft Academy. Not only is there a detailed step-by-step guide for you to follow (with pictures and images), but you will actually see a demonstration of this powerful (and important) ritual.

Once you have fully cleansed and purified your space, it is time to set up your altar. Throughout this process, keep in mind that you can use any materials to set up an altar – but it is best to avoid using synthetic or metal materials. You can use a small wooden table that is between knee and chest high (you may even consider a circular table – which are popular for altars) The idea here is to maintain the natural energies of the Earth by using materials coming directly from the earth (if possible).

Set up your feminine diety elements to the left, and your mail diety elements to the right. (for Wiccans, Goddess elements to the left, and your God elements to the right)

If you want to see a full layout of elements, and how to arrange them on your altar to heighten your connection to Magick – see the Home Academy to follow the exact steps. It also includes pictures of different altar setups and a video demonstration of setup and “consecration” of tools and other items on your altar. (This is a must to harmonize the energy within the tools with the energy of the altar and your sacred space)

Replace the markers you used to define the directions (North, South, East, and West) with white candles. In the DVDs you will also see how you can use colored candles that represent each of the elemental colors of the four directions. I like to place more candles around the border of the circle because I like to work my magic by candlelight.

Finally, repeat the purification ritual in the Home Academy for your altar and the circle. Then take a broom, or use your arm to clear out the space of the circle and push any negative or dark energy away.

Your first Witchcraft alter is born, congratulations! Now you can gradually increase it’s power to attract the Magick energies you will need in your spell work by adding meaningful objects to it. There are many specific examples of altar setups, and examples of objects that you can add. Above all, these objects must be a reflection of you. The more of “you” that goes into your altar, the more power you will be able to draw from it – and the more protection it will offer as you do your Magick.

Rose has been practicing different forms of Witchcraft for over 27 years. It is also now practiced by people in many different walks of life, including professionals like lawyers and teachers.

Wiccans practice what they call White magic, which they believe is ‘good’ and differs from the ‘bad’ black magic.

The motivation behind getting involved in wicca is not sinister in any way. The people involved are wanting to tap into the good “forces” in nature, and direct them in a positive manner. They are seeking the ‘power’ to be able to perform good magic, and often times to also find a popular group to belong to. The number of witches covens is increasing daily. Wiccans promote good moral values like honesty.

Books like the Harry Potter series, and TV shows life “Buffy”, “Sabrina the teenage Witch”, “Charmed” and other similar shows have skyrocketed the popularity of wicca witchcraft, in a way that is unprecedented.

The term witch, no longer seems to be associated with an ugly old woman wearing black and riding on a broomstick, it has taken on the guise of sexy young females, or young teenage boys.

Wiccans are not evil people seeking to destroy the world, but unfortunately they are oblivious to the true nature of the powers they are tapping into.

Wiccans don’t believe in the devil, or demons and this is the greatest tragedy. They don’t realise that the source of the magic they are delving into is not from “nature” but from the sinister master of the evil invisible world. Deceiving spirits of demons are hard at work, luring the unknowing into a destructive cycle that can devastate their lives. It is not until people are heavily involved in wicca that they find they start to encounter “bad spirits”, “psychic attacks”, “bad energies” and “harmful voices” in their heads among other things. At this stage they need to start practicing what they call “protection magic”.

There really are supernatural forces of good and evil at play behind the scenes in this world and the Bible reveals to us what these forces are. The Bible foretells that in the end times there will be many occult manifestations and that deceiving spirits will be rife and will seek to deceive even the elect.

We need to be really careful not to open up the wrong spiritual gateways. We need to seek the truth. Wiccans believe in reincarnation, but the Bible says, Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Wiccans don’t believe in the devil, and yet the Bible clearly shows that he exists. Probably the most tragic thing though is that wiccans don’t think they need to have a saviour, but the Bible teaches that Jesus Christ gave His life so that all could be forgiven, if they accept Him as Lord of their lives. 1 Timothy 4:10 “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”

The devil is alive and well in this world and out to harm as many of God’s blessed creations as he can. If you are involved in wicca, or know someone who is, you would be well advised to have a look at both sides of the equation, and at least consider what the Bible reveals about occult practices and the source of their power.

For more information on this topics please visit http://www.wiccawitchcraft.net/ Debra Lohrere is the author of Peace, Prophecy and False Fire http://www.lulu.com/content/333221 Her Homepage is http://debra.lohrere.com/home.shtml

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Debra_Lohrere

Who Knows The Types of Candles In Wicca?

The types of candles in Wicca depend on the reason for burning the candle. Votive candles are one of the types of candles in Wicca, but these are mainly used for light. They are short and stubby and are usually placed in a cup or other small container. Votive candles also take up less space so that more of them can be placed on a Wicca altar. There are many places where you can buy the types of candles in Wicca at wholesale prices. These retailers sell a variety of other Wicca supplies as well.

For use in Wicca, taper candles are another of the types of candles. In Wicca, these candles are long and slender and the wax drippings are allowed to collect in a pan or a plate placed under the candle. When you buy wholesale Wiccan candles and supplies, you can also buy the special pans you need for the taper candles. The wax drippings are read in a manner very similar to that of reading tealeaves. If a reading is not required, taper candles are often placed in elegant candleholders. At the wholesale store, you can buy them in various heights and diameters.

Jar candles are one of the types of candles in Wicca that have a special purpose. They are made by pouring colored wax into a clear jar or by pouring clear wax into a colored jar, Those involved in Wicca can get both the wax and the jars at retailers that sell wholesale Wiccan candles and supplies. These candles are anointed, although only the top of the candle receives the anointing.

There are also specialty candles used in Wicca. These include types of candles in Wicca dedicated to a Christian Saint or Voodoo Loa. These candles, which are available at wholesale Wiccan candles and supplies stores, have designs and signatures printed on the outside of the glass container. They are jar candles and each different candle comes with instructions about how to use it in Wicca. Another of the types of candles used in Wicca are candles formed in the shape of a cross. They come in black, white, green and red and they are mainly used as altar pieces.

If you want to see all the different types of candles in Wicca, a trip to a retailer selling wholesale Wiccan candles and supplies would be very informative. You will see male and female figurine candles that are burned either face to face or back to back. Burning this type of candle in Wicca face to face is intended to form a bond, but burning it back to back denotes banishment. Seven Day Knob candles are another of the types of candles in Wicca. You burn one knob on each of seven days to cast a spell with this candle.

To find out more about Candles visit Peter's Website Your Hot Candles at http://www.yourhotcandles.com/ and find out about Custom Candles and more, including Yankee Candles, Floating Candles and Scented Candles

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Peter_Clark

The History of Wicca – Where Did The Craft Originate

The history of Wicca or “The Craft” is complex but traditional Wicca is rooted in the so called "British Mystery Traditions", for example the Picts, who existed before the rise of Celtic consciousness, the Celts, and some Celtic Druidism.

Wicca predates Christianity by about 28 000 years.

A variety of archaeological discoveries, reveal that the history of Wicca can be traced as far back as the Paleolithic peoples who worshipped a Hunter God and a Fertility Goddess. Cave paintings, that are dated at around 30,000 years old, depict a man with the head of a stag, and a pregnant woman standing in a circle with eleven other people.

Modern American Wicca has its roots in British Wicca, brought to the United States in the late 1950's by English and American initiates of Gardnerian, Alexandrian and Celtic Wicca. These are different forms of Wiccan tradition. All of these cultures form part and parcel of the history of Wicca.

The ancient Greek Mysteries of Eleusis, Italian Mysteries of Rome, Etruria and the general countryside, Mysteries of Egypt and Persia before Islam, and various Babylonian, Assyrian and other mid-eastern Mysteries also find a place in the history of Wicca and its beliefs and traditional practices. Perhaps the best way to describe Wicca is to call it a modern religion, based on ancient witchcraft traditions. But do bear in mind that not all those who practice witchcraft today are Wiccas.

Wicca is a both a belief system and a way of life. Over the years information about how Wiccan ancestors lived and worshipped has been lost due to actions of the medieval church. However, modern Wiccas have tried to reconstruct the history of Wicca in an effort to lay the foundation for their practices.

During ancient times Wicca was called "The Craft of the Wise". This name was derived from the fact that most Wiccas aligned themselves with the forces of nature. They also had knowledge of herbs and medicines, gave council and were important in the village and community as Shamanic healers and leaders. The history of Wicca indicates that Wiccas once had a prized place in society which is quite a contrast to how they are viewed today.

Ancient Wiccas felt that man was not superior to nature, the earth and its creatures. Instead they were only one aspect of the world. The idea of sustainable development to maintain balance and equilibrium was central to the belief systems of the ancient Wicca. The history of Wicca is a far cry from the way that man views the earth today.

In the last several hundred years, witchcraft and witches have been incorrectly labeled as evil and unrighteous. Where do these ideas that form so much a part of the history of Wicca originate? Some Wiccas believe that the medieval church of the 15th through 18th centuries created these myths.

This was done in an effort to covert people to Christianity. The history of Wicca contains many stories of the persecution of witches based on so called “evil” practices.

Another theory about the history of Wicca is that as medical science became more prominent in society those who did these initial studies did not understand female physiology, especially menstruation. This “mystery” seemed to fit in with the churches agenda in labeling healers as evil heathens and placing power and respect in the hands of male physicians.

Many of these myths and superstitions have survived in modern times giving The Craft a bad name. While Wicca is essentially witchcraft, those who practice it usually do not refer to it as such because of these negative connotations. The history of Wicca is important since it is the persecution of those who practiced it that has led to its current ethic of “religious freedom first”.

http://www.pier55.com offers some of the best HOW-To and FAQS concerning all areas of interest.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=James_E_Johnson

Basic Meditation Techniques - Section 3

by Bill Witt, May 1987

Section Three: Meditation in Your Daily Life

Another way in which meditation is used is in the development of psychic powers.

In this third and final section we will discuss some ways in which you may use what you've learned, in your daily life.

The most obvious use of the techniques you have learned, is relaxation. During the course of the day, many of us have moments when the pressure becomes almost to much. When this happens, we often can't deal with other people or projects the way we should. The breathing exercises you learned in section two can help at these times.

It doesn't require alot of time or absolute quiet as does your meditation practice. All that is required is about five minutes and relative privacy. At these times, begin doing your rhythmic breathing and visualize a place which is calm and refreshing. This simple and quick exercise, can work wonders to help you regain control in a hectic situation.

Another way in which meditation is used is in the development of psychic powers. There are several books on the subject, listed at the end of this section. Most of those who teach about the use and development of these abilities, agree that meditation is necessary to any such study. Again the reason for this is that meditation allows you to reach an altered state of conciousness. In this altered state your mind is more open to such phenomenon as telepathy. If you should decide to persue studies in this direction, please seek the help of someone trained in these areas.

One final use I will suggest is visualization. Meditation can be used as a tool for problem solving. While in a meditative state of mind, you have the ability to take any situation and manipulate it. By that I mean you can mentally play the out the situation using several different solutions. Then, you can pick the one which seems to best solve the problem. While the use of meditation can help you deal with problem solving more effectively, it is not infallible. All it can do is allow you to think more clearly and concisely about the problem at hand.

Well that concludes this study on meditation. I hope you have gained something usefull from this course. It has been by no means, a full explanation of the subject. There is much more to learn than could be covered in this short series and It is my hope that you will want to continue your studies into this fascinating and useful skill.

Selected Bibliography:

Miriam Simos (Starhawk)
The Spiral Dance
New York
Harper & Row; 1979

W.E. You will also be given some ideas about types of music and other "tools" which can help you achieve these relaxed states of mind. Let's begin.

First, let's set the stage for our meditation practice. You should pick a place which is as private and safe as possible. An altered state of mind, as in meditation, lessens your awareness of the outside world. For this reason, it is not advisable to practice these techniques in a public place where there is a chance of being mugged, robbed, or molested. If you are at home, with other family members or friends present, ask that you not be disturbed and that all other noise in the house be kept to a minimum. When you have found a place suitable for meditation, you may begin.

"The seekers of new mind states-the mind control devotees, the encounter group enthusiasts, the drug takers, the psychics, the meditators - all are on a journey into the interior universe trying to burst the limits of the socially conditioned mind. Weither acceptable or unacceptable, moral or immoral, wise or foolish, the mind of man is stirring toward a new evolution." -- Dr. Barbara Brown [New Mind, New Body, New York, Bantam Books, 1975, Page 17]

As I said in section one, trance or meditaive states, alter the way your mind deals with the realities it accepts as normal. Things which are experienced in a trance state are often not easily expressed in everyday language. You will at some level, experience a heightened state of awareness. Colors, smells, and sounds may seem amplified from what they normally are.

People who can acheive very deep states of trance often leave their bodies in astral projection, or have psychic experiences.

I highly recommend, that if you wish to enter deep states of meditation, you do so under the guidance and teaching of someone who is well trained in the practice of such techniques. The key thing to remember is that it's not what level your working on as much as what you are learning. There is alot to be gained in wisdom and knowledge at all levels of trance.

Now let's learn some simple and usefull relaxation exercises.

You want to be sure that the time you pick to practice your meditation is a time when you are least likely to be disturbed. You should not be overly tired or have just finished eating as both of those conditions may cause you to fall asleep. Even though you wish to acheive an altered state of consciousness, you do want to remain conscious to some degree. If you fall asleep when you are meditating, no harm is done and you will awaken quite refreshed and rested. Unfortunately though, you may not be able to recall all the things you experienced while in trance.

If you are lying down, be sure your back and neck are properly supported so as not to fatigue the body. If you are sitting, be sure that both feet are flat on the floor and that you are sitting as erect as possible without being too stiff or strained. You should have your arms resting comfortably in your lap with palms up.

In either case, it is important that your body not become strained or fatigued for at least thirty minutes. This is a good length of time to begin with as it should put neither a physical or mental strain on your being.

Next, visualize a yourself in a cocoon of white light. You should surround yourself completely. See the light as bright and warm. You may play with this sphere of light making it bigger or smaller until it "feels" right for you. Say to yourself, "I am protected by the pure white light of all that is good and truthfull. I am surrounded by the pure light which keeps out all unwanted and evil influences."

This is a good idea to do for several reasons. There are those, and I am one of them, who believe that each of generates an aura which protects us from outside influences when we are in trance. This aura may be strengthened by visualizing the light as growing brighter at our command. Even if you do not accept this idea, the practice lends a feeling of safety and security to you. Nothing which is outside of you may enter or touch you without your permission.

Learning to control and pay attention to your breathing is the next step. You should start by taking a deep breath in through your nose, hold it for the mental count of 4 and then let it all out slowly through your mouth. Repeat this until you begin to feel at rest and relaxed. Allow your breathing to settle into a steady, rythmic rate. Just this simple technique can relax and refresh you at any time. When you are only doing the breathing exercise, it is not necessary to go through the white light sphere visualization. Some people use a muffled metronome or recording of some other rythmic sound, such as ocean waves, to aid them in setting the pace of their breathing. A good source of recorded sounds which can help you in meditation is a series of records and tapes which have been produced under the title Environments.

Now, as you are breathing, see yourself lying in the warm light of the sun. The light is warm and pleasant to be in. Starting with the tips of your toes, feel the light warming all of your body, slowly moving up into your legs, your trunk, and then into your arms and fingers. As you feel this warming become more and more relaxed, going deeper and deeper into a calm and quiet place.

When you fell totally relaxed and at peace, bring a single thought into your mind. It should be of a pleasant experience or of an idea such as love, joy, peace, or compassion. Focus on this one thought and if some other thought should try to intrude, picture it as being written on a clear board between you and your focal thought. Then picture it being erased from that board as it might be from a piece of paper. Deal with any thought, other than your focal thought, quickly. Try to maintain concentration on your focal thought for at least five minutes. Picture it as being real and experience it as if it were. When you are able to do this and can exclude all other thoughts as they attempt to enter your mind, you will have learned the single most important technique of meditation.

It is now time to begin coming back to normal consciousness. slowly let the thought fade from your mind and again become aware of the warm light of the sun. As you fell the light bathing you in its' warmth, start to reconnect your mind with the physical sensations of your body. Become aware of your breathing and the room around you. Do this slowly and calmly. When you are fully aware of your surroundings, open your eyes slowly. Enjoy the sense of calm and peace.

If you succeeded in doing this exercise, you should feel more relaxed and calm than normal. It is important to remember that you are comparing it to normal for you, not to what you think others would or should feel.

If you do not feel you succeeded try again in a day or two. Between meditation sessions, practice your deep breathing exercises. If you keep trying, you will soon reach a calm and meditative state. Do not attempt to meditate when you are ill, tired, or hungry. Those feelings only serve to make your efforts more difficult. A very important part to remember is that you can not force yourself into a meditative state. You must flow into it and surrender to it calmly.

Some things which are found to be helpful in meditation follow.

Try concentrating on the flame of a candle when focusing. You could also use a crystal ball. The later is rather exspensive but small crystal window ornaments or pyramids also work well and cost much less.

Music is also an aid to some. The music should be quiet and rhythmic. It should bring on feelings of peace and comfort. Such music may range from New Age recordings to classical.

Another useful device is to focus on a symbol which holds special meaning for you. It may be an well known symbol or one you design yourself. As long as it holds a special meaning or expresses a special concept, it is a usefull focusing tool. This brings section two of this course to a close. In the next part I will give you some pratical ways in which to use what you have learned. Also, a list of books for further reading will be included.

Basic Meditation Techniques - Section 1

by Bill Witt, May 1987

This is the first part of a three part online course in Basic Meditation Techniques

The course is divided into three sections. Section one deals with what meditation is and how it plays a part in the lives of those who use it. Section two will go into the techniques and tools of meditation. Section three gives suggestions on how to use what you've learned, in everyday life. A list of books for further reading on the subject, will be given at the end of section three.

Section One: What is Meditation

Knowledge has always been fairly easy to come by. Wisdom on the other hand, is a
bit harder to grasp onto.

Webster defines meditation as "The act of meditating; close or continued thought; the revolving of a subject in the mind."

To meditate is to focus mentally on one thought, idea, or concept. It may also mean, to revolve an idea in your mind so as to change the way in which you think of that idea. Meditation is therefore, a tool with which you may manipulate thought in an organized manner.

Many people view meditation as a very difficult thing to learn. In reality though, we do it often without even knowing it. When you daydream or find your mind fixed on one thought, that is a form of meditation. Have you ever watched a bird in flight, or stared up at the clouds in the sky, or maybe even found yourself watching a stream of water flow by? If you have and at that moment the rest of the world around you has seemed removed, then you were in a state of meditation. The real key to this practice, is to be able to exercise control over your thoughts and awareness of the world around you.

There are many groups of people for whom meditation is an everyday ritual. Others use it at special times as a means of relaxation and "mental house cleaning." It allows the individual a freedom unlike no other freedom. The freedom to look inside oneself and learn just who you are. Some use it as a way of being closer to nature or God. No matter how you wish to use it, you will find it a healthy and very rewarding experience.

Most all religions practice meditation in one way or another. Eastern philosophies such as Yoga, and Buddhism are not the only ones to view meditation as a way of looking for the Truth found in one's own consciousness. Even in Christianity meditation finds a place of value. The Bible itself mentions the value of meditation. In writing to the Philippians, the Apostle Paul tells them this. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Phil. 4.8)

So you ask, what can it do for me. Well, beyond just being a good way to really relax, which we can all use in this hectic world, it can be a doorway to the Truth inside yourself. It is a way of gaining wisdom. Knowledge has always been fairly easy to come by. Wisdom on the other hand, is a bit harder to grasp onto.

In "The Task" by William Cowper, the following line is found. "Knowledge dwells in heads replete with thoughts of other men: Wisdom, in minds attentive to their own."

For me, meditation becomes a way of "grounding" myself, of reaching a place of peace and stability, where I can find how I fit into the universe.

In many philosophies, meditation is viewed as a necessary skill. All those who are students of these philosophies must learn the ways of meditation early in their training. Although the techniques may vary from one group to another, the most basic concepts remain the same. The ability to be able to focus on one thought and selectively block out all others is the foundation upon which many more advanced skills will be built. These skills may range from telepathy to the ability to move objects with only the mind.

It is well known that Yogi adepts can lower their breathing and heart rates to near death levels. This is something you should not try as it takes years of practice to learn and can be quite dangerous. Still, these yogis are proof of the type of power the mind can exercise over the body through meditation.

In some cultures, the use of drugs to achieve a meditative state is encouraged. The american indians for example, used drugs derived from various plants to put themselves into an altered state of conciousness. This was usually done as a religious practice and as an event marking the change from one state of life to another. A good example would be the ceremony marking the coming into manhood of a young boy. Today there are still many, who advocate the use of drugs to achieve these altered states. It is my opinion that such measures are neither necessary nor good. You can reach an altered state of conciousness without the use of drug induced "highs". It takes practice, but it can be done.

In New Age philosophy, the art of meditation is highly valued. We also find another well developed skill which is called "creative visualization". This is the idea of visualising what you want to the point of it becoming reality. A good example would be a salesman visualizing himself as successful and prosperous. The concept is simple, if you can visualize a personal reality, you can change or bring that reality into being. "Positive Thinking" is a very similar idea. The technique of creative visualization goes beyond positive thinking however. It deals with the premise that we all create our own reality and therefore have the power to change many aspects of that reality. The idea of "personal reality" is a lengthy one and we do not have enough room to cover it in this course.

So far we have looked briefly at what meditation is and how it is used. By no means have we touched on all the aspects of this practice. There are many books on the subject which cover it in much more detail. My purpose is to give you an overview of the many facets of meditation in the hope that you will wish to learn more.

In the next section, I will give you insructions on how to meditate and achieve an altered state of conciousness. Also a list of aids to meditation will be given and their use explained.

Let’s Take A Spiritual Bath

One of the most important things to do before starting any ritual or spellwork is to take a spiritual bath. When you think about ancient times, baths were only taken for special occasions. We in the modern world have been spoiled with the thought that a bath or shower is needed everyday. This century, in fact, is one of the first in which baths and showers have become prevalent. It is no wonder that we have lost the meaning and importance of this pre-ritual step.Since baths were not a regularity, they were taken with specific purposes and close attention to intention. When a witch of ancient times bathed, it was a ritual in and of itself. In a way, our daily shower or bath can become a mini-ritual. It marks the beginning of a new day and wipes our energetic slate clean for the coming tasks. When you take your daily shower, keep this in mind. You might want to invest in some herbal soaps and shampoos to emphasize this point. If you need to be energized, choose orange blossom or another citrus scent. Vanilla and lavender bring relaxation. Ylang ylang and other spicy scents can infuse you with power for the coming day. Progressively relax your entire body starting from the top of your head working slowly down to the bottoms of your feet.
3. Mentally visualise that you are surrounded by a long ellipsoid of intense, bright blue light that extends 9 inches outwardly from every point on the surface of your body.
4. Continue to maintain this image and visualise a globe of brilliant white light above (but not touching) your head. The globe is inside of your bright blue aura.
5. Concentrate on this bright white globe so that it becomes brighter, glowing white like burning magnesium.
6. Keep both images of the bright blue aura and the brilliant white globe and mentally aspire to the highest standards of morality, good, and love that you can.
7. Next, feel the white globe showering you with glittering white light filled with silver sparkles. This white light should permeate your entire being, coursing vibrantly through you.
8. The outer shell of your aura should be an intense bright blue filled with the vibrant, sparkling white light. Concentrate on this complete image as long as you can, fully believing in its reality. Feel your outer auric shell as a hard, sharply defined blue as you feel blissful and alert.
9. As you close, let the image fade slowly while believing that it is not fading from reality.

Shielding

This is a technique for creating a magickal 'force field' around your person or a place, to keep out unwanted energy. This could be psychic 'background noise', nasty astral critters, or magickal energy directed at you. Many people do this unconsciously all their lives. Others of us have to learn how. The method I use is to visualise a 'net' of energy around the area to be shielded. Remember to 'see' it in 3D, a sphere rather than a circle. (This is where those visualisation exercises come into practical use.) I generally use my personal energy to power it. I visualise negative energy being absorbed by my shields and flowing into the earth. ("Ground and Centre" here.) I visualise it as porous, though, so that energy I send can pass through. With practice, you will be able to shield yourself instantly, without thinking. I have found that exhaustion or alcohol quickly erodes my ability to shield, so keep this in mind. Once you have shields, there is lots of nifty magick you can do with them.

Ease Pain During Labour with Crystals

If possible, try and find a wand or pendant that has these four stones in it: amethyst, clear quartz crystal, chrysoprase and aventurine. If you look online, there are pagan stores that will custom create items for you. If possible, hold or wear the item against your skin during delivery. Afterwards, give the item away, preferably to someone who is also expecting or trying to conceive. If you can not find someone to make you one, you can make a small pouch and put one of each stone into it. Hold or wear it during delivery to help ease pain and make the birth easier on both mom and her baby. Afterwards, the pouch should be taken apart, and the stones given away as gifts.

From Everything Under The Moon

Aventurine - Aventurine is also a formidable crystal for pregnancy and childbirth. We ask for fertility for ourselves and for our animals or crops if we have any, and also for our plans conceived at Imbolc and put into motion at Ostara to grow and become what they were expected to be. This is a time of extreme vitality and consummation of many aspects of life. It is also a time to help others; to aid others in making their plans and aspirations work out. Some people believe elves and fairies and other "little people" begin to come out at this time and might leave offerings for them. Beltane is a good time also to commune with the deities of choice and to celebrate the blessings of love and fertility They have bestowed.

Activities: Since the spring flowers have been growing, this is a good time to collect spring flowers and exchange them with people whose favour you desire. People also like to put the flowers in and around their cauldrons (since the cauldron is a symbol of the Goddess). Fertility rites are very popular, such as the maypole. The pole itself is a phallic symbol, and the celebrators skip around the pole holding ribbons that wind into a lovely pattern. Couples who want to conceive children might jump over a small cauldron while holding hands. This is a time when people have large gatherings and get-togethers where they all talk about life and have a great time. Handcrafts are popular for this time of year, especially woven gifts and fabric crafts. Many people like to build a shrine in nature at this time, sometimes in a home garden or in a nearby forest.

Spellwork appropriate for Beltane:

Spells for fertility
Love
Spiritual communion with deity
Safety
Prosperity
Conservation

BELTAINE ALTAR : As the time for wishing for a lover, for fertility, and for happy relationships and marriages, Beltaine is the 3rd fertility festival, with fire playing a central role, so an abundance of candles on your altar are ideal at this time of year. You can also display floral decorations in honour of the rising power of the sun. Hawthorn and rowan can also be brought into the house at this time for protection and fertility.

The Moon and Magick

Essentially, all magick can be broken down into two types, drawing and banishing.

During the waxing moon cycle, our work should be concentrated on drawing what we want towards us.

During the waning moon, our work should be pivoted primarily towards banishing that which we want out of our lives.

Therefore, if a sudden illness strikes during the time of the waxing moon, work to draw health rather than banish illness.

If an emergency situation calls for a heavy prosperity spell during the time of the waning moon, work towards banishing poverty and need.

As you can see in these situations, the immediate need is accomplished by working with its opposite. In this way, you utilize the energies from the current moon cycle (either drawing or banishing) to ultimately realize your goal.

My Favourite Wish Spell

Light a white candle:

"As I light this candle, I invite God, Goddess and the spirits and powers of the Elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water to attend and bless my spell"

Sit at a comfortable distance from the candle and look into the candle light for a few minutes.

Breathing deeply and rythmicly.

"I wish I may, I wish I might, I wish upon the candle light, I wish.. Charge Gemstones

Quartz crystals are by their very nature energy tools. In addition to transmitting, focusing and amplifying energies, crystals receive and store energy in many forms: Magnetic energy, light energy, emotions, thought forms, sound waves, etc.

Crystals are purely “non-discriminating” energy tools: they do not make judgements or discriminate between good or bad, positive or negative wanted or unwanted energies.

Therefore your crystal will hold whatever energy you are consciously or unconsciously projecting into it. If you are releasing emotions or thought patterns that you have outgrown, if you are experiencing imbalance in you life, or if you are going through intense emotions, your crystal will receive and store these energies and you will in effect be caring them around with you in amplified and concentrated form.

The same is true of the influences of others on your crystals: strong emotions or thought forms of others can be absorbed into you crystals. It is therefore essential to clear you crystals of unwanted energy or influences regularly.

To maintain your crystal as the perfect energy tool that it is , it is important to cleanse the outside surface of he crystal often of dust, oil, fingerprints, etc. that can interfere with the surface ionic charge. In addition to the surface cleansing the basic energy properties of crystals need to be cleared. When the crystal has been cleansed and cleared the energy must be charged. Specific suggestions for cleansing, clearing and charging crystals follow.

Crystals worn on the body must be cleansed more regularly.

CLEANSING- Hold the crystal point down under running water to release energy and to cleanse the surface of any residue. Use natural soaps to wash your stone, not chemical detergents or glass cleaners. Do not use excessively hot water; crystals are fragile and will often crack along internal stress or fracture lines if very hot water is used. Cleanse crystals before and after each healing use.

CLEARING- Methods of clearing:

FIRE ELEMENT- Solarize your crystals: place in direct sunlight for several hours. Amethyst, however, may fade if left out for more than a few moments. Not all gemstones like sunlight. Here are a list of a few that may be damaged in sunlight....
-Ametrine, may change color
-Apatite, pink variety fades
-Aquamarine- becomes paler
-Aventurine- translucent types loose their color
-Beryl- brown or orange types may change to pale pink
-Celestite- fades in direct sunlight
-Chrysoprase- becomes paler
-Citrine- may change color
-Fluorite- green and purple types change color
-Kunzite- becomes pale or loses color
-Rose Quartz- becomes paler
-Smokey Quartz- becomes paler

Flame your crystals by passing your crystals several times over a candle flame.

EARTH ELEMENT- Solid matter represents the earth element: sand , earth, rocks, gravel, etc. For a heavy cleansing, you can bury your crystals in earth or sand to dissipate unwanted energies. You can build a cairn, or rock pit for clearing crystals; dig a hole, line it with rocks, place you crystals in it and gently cover them with rocks and earth. You can leave your crystals directly on the earth while solarizing them” all unwanted energy is released back to the earth and transmitted. If you have a garden, leave your crystals in the garden: both the crystals and your plants will benefit from the exchange of energy. If you live in the city, you can bring back soil with you from the country and keep it in an earthen pot or wood box for clearing your stones. You can sand box your crystals by placing them in a wooden box filled with sand. Cover the box and leave in a dark place for one month. Preferably from full moon to full moon. This is a very deep cleansing method.

A word on salt: salt or salt water is often recommended for clearing crystals for two reasons.

1. Salt represents the earth element and
2 it is reputed to draw out unwanted energy.

While salt may be used in this way for some stones, it is not good to use for quartz. Salt has two functions One is to pull or draw out and the other is to encase and preserve. Due to a molecule affinity between salt and quart, it has the opposite effect of clearing the crystal; it actually traps the energy within the molecules of the crystal. One exception is sea or ocean water: due to the combination of elements and pranic energy at the ocean. (Earth—salt and sand: fire- the sun: water) you can take your crystals to the ocean for clearing. Remember, though that the sun and salt may bleach out your amethyst and especially fluorite. If you have been using salt on your crystals, you can clear them by using spring water with a dash of lemon juice, vodka, organic vinegar or Pennyroyal Flower essence. However, Pennyroyal releases a lot of negative energy it can leave spots on the crystal.

WATER ELEMENT-Soak your crystals daily in natural spring water: the negative ions in the spring water will clear the stones. You can soak the crystals from two hours to overnight in an earthen or glass bowl (clear, blue or violet glass is the best). If you soak the crystals longer, charge the water at least once a day.

Clear your crystals in a brook or stream, hold the crystals with the point facing downstream. Take advantage of any rapidly moving, clear body of water to ionize, clear and charge your stones.

SOUND -All crystals clear at 128 and 512 cycles per second. You can use tuning forks or an otolith (similar to a tuning fork) in this range to clear crystals. Simply strike the fork against a hard surface, than hold the base to the surface of the crystal” the sound waves created will clear the stone. Toning and chanting will clear crystals. Quartz specifically tones to the seed sound “am” and all stones will clear to the universal “om”. You can however, use any tone or mantra that feels right to you. Hold the crystal in your left hand and place your right hand over your left. Hold the crystal on your heart center and chant or tone from your heart. When you can feel the vibration in you hands, heart and spine, the stone is cleared.

If you do not feel that your crystal is clear, you can clear crystals in the following order: 1) Earth, 2) Water 3) Fire 4) Sound You may also wish to combine methods: water and earth, fire and water, etc.

You can create your own ritual cleansing by placing your crystals on sand or earth in the sunshine and pouring spring water over it.

OTHER SUGGESTED METHODS OF CLEARING CRYSTALS:

FLOWER ESSENCE-Since flower essence work on the same vibratory principles as gemstones, they are often effective in clearing quartz crystals. Pennyroyal, from Pegasus Products in Boulder, Colorado is specifically used for clearing quartz as well as for psychic protection.
Rescue Remedy, a combination of Flower Essence prepared by Bach is used as an “emergency” remedy for any combination of strong emotions and works well for clearing heavy emotions from crystals. The Bach Flower Essence, Crab Apple, is used to cleanse and release negative energy, emotions and toxins and works similarly with quartz.

To use a flower essence, place 4 to 7 drops of the essence into the spring water in which you are soaking your crystals.

SMUDGING -Burning natural herbs, grasses and incense and using the smoke to smudge stones will purify them and release negative energy. You can use sage (whole leaf) sweetgrass, cedar, incense, sandalwood, Frankincense or myrrh for smudging crystals and your work environment. Any grass or herb that is used for purification purposes may be used for smudging crystals. They sell smudge sticks as well, however, after smudging shake them in sand. Western sage is the best to clear negativity, cedar bring in the positive. To smudge a room, go to the Four Corners and wave the smoke from the ceiling to the floor.

TAPE DEMAGNETIZER-If you wish to remove all programming from a crystal and return it to its original inherent energy pattern, you may run a bulk tape demagnetizer just over the surface of the crystal (not touching the crystal) This is an excellent method for clearing crystals, which you have just received or purchased, or which come from a questionable source. It will , however, remove all personal programming you have put into the crystal, so should be used only when you want all extraneous energies scrambled or erased.

CHARGING YOUR CRYSTALS

To receive the most benefit from your crystals, it is essential to regularly charge or energize your crystals. Some methods of clearing will automatically charge our crystals, but it's ideal to cultivate the habit of frequently or consciously charging your crystals.

Our preferred method is to place the crystals outside or on a windowsill, preferably at either a full moon or a new moon for both a night and day exposure. Full sun exposure should be minimized for light sensitive crystals like fluorite, calcite, and amethyst – indirect daylight works just as well.

SUGGESTED METHODS FOR CHARGING QUARTZ:.

SOLARIZING: The sun’s ray do not only dissipate unwanted energy , they automatically recharge quartz crystals. Do remember, however, that the sun can fade amethyst, fluorite, and colored calcites if left out to long.

Running water: the ionization effect of rapidly moving water will boost the energy of your crystals as well as clear them.

PYRAMIDS: Once your crystal is cleared, place it under a copper, silver, gold, or stained glass pyramid to charge and fine tune the energy of the stone. This is an ancient method long used for charging gemstones and metals. Here is a web site that you may want to check out http://www.kheopsglassart.com/Pyramids.htm

NATURE'S ELEMENTS: leave you crystals out just before and during and electrical storm so that the highly charged atmosphere can energize them.

MOVEMENT: just as ones wrist movements will keep the quartz crystals in a quartz watch charged and wound up. Pulsing you crystal will keep its energy strong and clear. Hold the crystal in you right hand and gently pulse your crystal with rhythmic movements of your wrist. Turn the crystal clockwise (to the right) so that all six facets have been pulsed. The rhythm or pulse that you use will vary from stone to stone. This method also enhances your personal attunement to your crystal and is a wonderful way to get to know your crystal.

AFTER CLEANSING, CLEARING,and CHARGING YOUR CRYSTALS the diffrence will be readily noticeable. A cleared crystal will look visibly brighter and more sparkling. It will feel physically lighter and the pulsation of the crystal will be clearly and easily felt in your hand. Even more importantly, when you take the time to clear your crystal, you are taking the time to clear yourself. You will notice an immediate and obvious change in your own energy when you clear and charge your stones. The ultimate clearing for your crystal is to keep yourself as clear and conscious as possible. To treat your crystal with love and respect, to work always with the Light, and to thank your crystal for serving you as you follow you path in life. With this attitude and with the simple clearing methods outlined, your crystal experience will be fruitful and wonderful adventure. Human consciousness is one of the greatest powers know. When you focus your intent or consciousness in clearing your crystals. You are utilizing the energy and power that is inherent in you nature and you are not only attuning yourself to your crystal , but to your own higher consciousness.

From: http://www.gemwrap.com/careforcrystals.html It is derived from the Gaelic word "oimelc" which means "ewes milk".

Herd animals have either given birth to the first offspring of the year or their wombs are swollen and the milk of life is flowing into their teats and udders.

It is the time of Blessing of the seeds and consecration of agricultural tools.

It marks the center point of the dark half of the year.

It is the festival of the Maiden, for from this day to March 21st, it is her season to prepare for growth and renewal.

Brighid's snake emerges from the womb of the Earth Mother to test the weather, (the origin of Ground Hog Day), and in many places the first Crocus flowers began to spring forth from the frozen earth.

The Maiden is honored, as the Bride, on this Sabbat. Straw Brideo'gas (corn dollies) are created from oat or wheat straw and placed in baskets with white flower bedding. Young girls then carry the Brideo'gas door to door, and gifts are bestowed upon the image from each household. Afterwards at the traditional feast, the older women make special acorn wands for the dollies to hold, and in the morning the ashes in the hearth are examined to see if the magic wands left marks as a good omen. Brighid's Crosses are fashioned from wheat stalks and exchanged as symbols of protection and prosperity in the coming year. Home hearth fires are put out and re-lit, and a besom is place by the front door to symbolize sweeping out the old and welcoming the new. Candles are lit and placed in each room of the house to honor the re-birth of the Sun.

Another traditional symbol of Imbolc is the plough. In some areas, this is the first day of ploughing in preparation of the first planting of crops. A decorated plough is dragged from door to door, with costumed children following asking for food, drinks, or money. Should they be refused, the household is paid back by having its front garden ploughed up. In other areas, the plough is decorated and then Whiskey, the "water of life" is poured over it. Pieces of cheese and bread are left by the plough and in the newly turned furrows as offerings to the nature spirits. It is considered taboo to cut or pick plants during this time.

Various other names for this Greater Sabbat are Imbolgc Brigantia (Caledonni), Imbolic (Celtic), Disting (Teutonic, Feb 14th), Lupercus (Strega), St. Bridget's Day (Christian), Candlemas, Candlelaria (Mexican), the Snowdrop Festival. The Festival of Lights, or the Feast of the Virgin.

All Virgin and Maiden Goddesses are honored at this time.

Deities of Imbolc:

All Virgin/Maiden Goddesses,

Brighid, Aradia, Athena, Inanna, Gaia, and Februa,

and Gods of Love and Fertility,

Aengus Og, Eros, and Februus.

Symbolism of Imbolc:

Purity, Growth and Re-Newal, The Re-Union of the Goddess and the God, Fertility, and dispensing of the old and making way for the new.

Symbols of Imbolc:

Brideo'gas, Besoms, White Flowers, Candle Wheels, Brighid's Crosses, Priapic Wands (acorn-tipped), and Ploughs.

Herbs of Imbolc:

Angelica, Basil, Bay Laurel, Blackberry, Celandine, Coltsfoot, Heather, Iris, Myrrh, Tansy, Violets, and all white or yellow flowers.

Foods of Imbolc:

Pumpkin seeds, Sunflower seeds, Poppyseed Cakes, muffins, scones, and breads, all dairy products, Peppers, Onions, Garlic, Raisins, Spiced Wines and Herbal Teas.

Incense of Imbolc:

Basil, Bay, Wisteria, Cinnamon, Violet, Vanilla, Myrrh.

Colors of Imbolc:

White, Pink, Red, Yellow, lt. The disk can be made of many different materials.

In more dangerous times, the pentacle was crafted from disposable materials such as clay or dough. To be caught in possession of a pentacle in those days could very well endanger your life.

Nowadays, pentacles are crafted in metals such as copper, brass, silver or gold. Many Witches make their own from stained glass or by etching stones or wood.

The pentacle can also be personalized by adding appropriate astrological symbols, runes and other sigils (magical symbols) that have special meaning to the practitioner.

Many Wiccans wear a pentacle pendant or ring as a sign of their religion or as an amulet or talisman. The pentacle crafted from silver represents Moon energy and psychic forces. The same symbol made in gold represents the Sun energies of power and strength. Many pentacles come with embedded stones which can represent birth months or a particular energy that the wearer wishes to attract.

During magical operations, the pentagram can be drawn in the air by the athame or sword. When drawn a certain way, it is used to either invoke or banish energies. Used on the altar, it becomes a focal point to draw in and send out the intentions of the spell or working.

The simplest spells of this kind are those involving candle magic. A candle of the appropriate color is charged and place on the pentacle.

Traditionally, each of the five angles has been attributed to the five metaphysical elements of the ancients:

EARTH: (lower left hand corner) represents stability and physical endurance.

FIRE: (lower right hand corner) represents courage and daring.

WATER: (upper right hand corner) represents emotions and intuition.

AIR: (upper left hand corner) represents intelligence and the arts.

SPIRIT: (at the topmost point) represents the All and the Divine.

The Circle around the star represents the God-Goddess; it refracts and reflects all light, bringing to the wearer total intelligence, universal wisdom and protection.

The origins of the pentagram go back to remotest historical antiquity. As far back as pre-Babylonian Sumer, it has been venerated by many civilizations. To the Jewish peoples, it symbolically designated the Pentateauch, the Five Books of Moses and has survived under a variety of titles, such as "The Druid's Root" and "The Witches Star".

To the followers of Pythagoras, it was called "The Pentalpha" being composed of five interlaced A's or Alphas. The Alpha being the first word of the alphabet, we can perhaps view it as showing forth unity in the midst of multiplicity. The individual as part of the Whole.

To ceremonial magicians, the points can represent various elemental energies, spirits or deities.

It is the ruling of the higher mind over the lower elements of our being and signals the awakening of cosmic consciousness and the beginnings of our own human psyche, moving beyond the realms of physical form and the perceptions limited to the five senses.

It allows the infinite possibilities that exist within the Universe and frees us to explore and to grow.

This becomes a graphic portrayal of Spirit ruling over the five elements. When the pentagram is placed within a circle, it's energy is focused and directed. The pentagram upright, to those of spiritual perception, represents the redemption of Spirit by ruling over matter.
Used inverted, with the top point pointed downward, it represents a second or third degree status in some traditional groups. Many of these groups have since substituted a triangle form for the same degrees because of the association of the inverted form of the pentacle with Satanism and black magic.

The number five is attributed to the influence of Mars. Thus some Witches think of the five pointed star within the circle as force or power contained and controlled by divine wisdom.

- Sharynne NicMacha

I got this information from The Wiccan Glade

The 13 Goals of Wicca

1. Know Yourself - According to the Tao Te Ching: "Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom." Unfortunately knowing oneself isn't always easy.

2. Know Your Craft (Wicca) - Read the writings of more than one witch, and try to find other witches to talk to. There isn't a standard agreement among witches as to what Wicca is, so my advice would be to learn from as many different people or sources possible.

3. Learn - Learn everything you can. Grasp every chance you can to learn from anyone and anything. The world is such a wonderful marvellous place, and there's always so much to learn from it...

4. Apply Knowledge with Wisdom - It has been said that love without wisdom is no different from hate in its results. Likewise knowledge without wisdom is no different than ignorance.

5. Achieve Balance - An instrument does not work properly if the strings are too tight or too loose. Likewise all things must be kept in balance.

6. Keep Your Words in Good Order - One of Starhawk's books talks about how important honesty is to a witch. If a Witch makes a habit of lying, then how can the words of her spell be true? Yet keeping your words in good order can go beyond just not lying. Your thoughts, words, and actions are all tied together and together they shape your life. Your words should reflect the type of person you want to be and the type of life you want to live.

7. Keep Your Thoughts in Good Order - The following is a poem from the Dhammapada (sayings of the Buddha):

The thought manifests as the word;

The word manifests as the deed;

The deed develops into the habit;

And habit hardens into character;

So watch the thought and its ways with care,

And let it spring from love

Born out of concern for all beings...
As the shadow follows the body,

As we think, so we become.

The best book on this topic that I have read is the book "Awakening the Buddha Within" by Lama Surya Das, and I would strongly recommend this Buddhist book for all witches. Buddhism and Wicca have an amount in common, and it is wise I think to learn from a variety of sources.

8. Celebrate Life - I don't think that "celebrating life" means being happy all the time and there's certainly no use being upset with oneself for not being happy. Rather I think celebrating life means being aware of life, not letting it pass you by unnoticed, and taking time to really experience. Feel the world. Know it is yours to explore. Explore it.

9. Attune with the cycles of the Earth - somewhere I have heard that cats are healthier if they are permitted some time outdoors to connect with nature. Chances are humans are too. We live in a world surrounded by metals, plastics and cements, and every once in a while it’s important to remind yourself where we came from.Yet attuning yourself with the cycles of the Earth is more than just spending time with nature. It's also accepting change. Everything on Earth is always changing. Living organisms are growing, dying and decaying. The wind and water are always moving. Rocks are wearing down into dust and being built anew. Everything is changing. Your life will change.Recognising the changing of the seasons and the turning of the moon allows us to both reconnect with nature and accept change within our own lives.

10. Breathe and eat correctly - most people (including myself) don't chew their food enough or get enough nutrients. Nor, as my body keeps reminding me, do we all breathe properly. Time and effort put into learning these is supposed to pay off in health benefits. Taking care of your body is also a way of loving yourself and loving yourself is an important thing before being able to love others.

11. Exercise the Body - a person's spiritual life cannot be entirely separate from the rest of one's life. A person cannot say he loves himself while denying the needs and health requirements of his body. Rather by taking care of your body you can show your (healthy) love for yourself.

12. Meditate - quiet time is invaluable.

13. Honour the Goddess and God - Live a life that you can be proud of.

Simple Money Spell

Light a green candle at night and concentrate on it.
Then repeat the following phrase over and over until u feel it starting to work
"I will the energy contained within this candle to heal, harmonize, and balance my being.
May the magic of money flow freely through my life.
I attract money like a magnet.
I am open and receptive to all prosperity.
May light and love surround and protect me in all of my endeavors"
as I will it........so mote it be..........
